I must say, working and shopping at the same time is our kind of work! Her clothes, personal stylists and amazing service blows me away. Tips and Tricks!
Dry scalp?
Dry scalps are fairly common during the colder seasons and changes in weather. So we’ve given you a list of tips and tricks to follow to help treat your scalp:
- Use warm water to shampoo and cool water to rinse out conditioner. The result: shinier hair and for younger looking skin because the water closes the pores and hair cuticle.
- For oily, flaky scalps, wash every 2-3 days (For an added treatment, try Rene Furterer’s Astera shampoo and treatment.
- For dry, flaky scalps, wash everyday (try Rene Furterer’s Melaleuca treatments and shampoo.
- Use a scalp balancing shampoo and conditioner. If all else fails, let the Markus J pros give you a scalp treatment that will take away those flakes – usually in one session.
Ratty Hair?
Be it fine, colored, high-lighted, curly, long, or all of these, your hair is much more sensitive and vulnerable to rattiness. Want to learn prevention methods?
- Damage Therapy Regimen: Shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner and masque (1x week).
- Blow dry hair in a downward direction, blowing air towards the ends, alternating hot/cold air. Overheating is the #1 reason why hair gets dry.
- Use Bb Straight or Aveda Smooth Infusion to prevent from heat damage before drying or ironing.
- Sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase. You don’t want to backcomb your hair all night with rough pillow surfaces

Markus J hair artists were working backstage at the Vancouver Wedding Show, partnering up with Clara Couture, where we made brides glow! The models showed off the latest and greatest in specialty hair styling to over 3000 guests.

New Hair Workshops
Our new workshop starts off with sushi and wine, Q and A, demos on what you and your friends want to learn, then you break up into groups to work on your own hair. In the duration of the evening, you’ll also receive a mini facial and skin analysis from Elena. Book early and receive a complimentary hair kit for all your needs. Cutting for Cancer
We are lucky to be alive! In celebration, Mona will be donating 100% of all the profits from cuts and colors to the BC Cancer Foundation the first Sunday of every month this year. If you want a full makeover and don’t want to pay, pick up a pledge form, raise $300 and we’ll cut, color or highlight your hair any way you want. Remember the cut-a-thon that we held last November? We raised $8000 for Elfina’s cause! Book for Mona starting May 4th!
Hair Competition Results
A big WOW and congrats to Tim and Mona! On April 13th, Tim and Mona Competed at the annual hair Competition at BC Place Stadium. Coincidentally, they both placed 2nd in their categories and won over crème de la crème stylists from Vancouver and out of town. Mona also participated in a live makeover contest for Cityline TV and placed top 2. Unfortunately there was only one winner in this competition. Oh well, we can’t win them all! Another successful Cut-a-thon!
Our Cut–a-thon which took place on Sunday, November 11th was a success! We want to thank everyone involved, including all our generous sponsors and clients. For those of you weren’t aware of this event, Markus J Hair held a Cut-a- Thon on behalf of Elfina Luk, whose Uncle had passed on from cancer and mom currently has breast cancer. She grew out 5 years worth of dreadlocks and cut them off to raise money for cancer research. We’re excited to say we raised $8000, we were on the news on Global, City TV and the Metro!!
